Appeal following fatal collision in Stevenage

Officers from the Road Policing Unit are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal road traffic collision on the A602 Hitchin Road in Stevenage.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning (August 12) at around 3.15am. A lorry, which had been travelling along the road towards the A1, was in collision with a male pedestrian near to Sainsburys.

The man, aged 43 and from Borehamwood, was treated at the scene by paramedics, before being transferred to hospital where he sadly later died as a result of his injuries. His family are being supported by specialist officers.

Road closures were put in place on the Hitchin Road between the Coreys Mill roundabout and Junction 8 of the A1(M), while the lorry was recovered and road crash investigators attended the scene.

Sergeant Dan Cook from the Road Policing Unit said: “We are appealing for anyone who was driving in the area at the time with a dash cam in operation, to get in touch. We would also like to hear from anyone who saw the collision, or the lorry or pedestrian prior to it.”
